Thornton Wilder wrote an American adaptation of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House for his friends, actress Ruth Gordon and director Jed Harris. The 1938 production was well received critically and enjoyed a good run on the Great White Way. In fact, Wilder had two plays playing simultaneously: A Doll’s House and Our Town.
